My First Blog Video!!

The soon-to-be-British Amy and I haven't done One Morning A Week for a while, and I'm waiting for our first British-Raj posting when she arrives there. In the meantime, however, I thought it was time you spent the morning in beautiful Mayapur.....enjoy!

Oh pooh! It didn't play on my computer.

Wow, those are beautiful sounds. I assume the video was meant to be black screen, I only hear the birds but see no image. What a way to start the morning B!

Ahhh, give it another go...I have Vista so I'm used to not having things go as they are supposed too.

Ok I get it, I turned it up to hear exactly what you were saying and caught that it was 4 AM and dark out! lol

Loved it!

Beth said...

Birds at 4 am? Wow!

misskate said...

I love hearing the birds sing... it's almost strange to hear it without being punctuated by cars driving past (yes, even at 4am on my street there'd be people driving) .. it's so very peaceful and lovely! Thanks for sharing :)

Saundra@ItalianMamaGoneCrazy said...

Were those bells in the background? Sounds heavenly...

Smart Mouth Broad said...

If I could listen to that every morning, it would lull me back to sleep. I'd never get out of bed. I would just ly there and enjoy the music of the day.

Vodka Mom said...

well. Was I actually supposed to see something?

However, the sounds were lovely. I didn't even REALIZE that Indian birds speak english.

Susan said...

So in January when I'm in Mayapur, I need to make sure I have my ear plugs until I'm ready to wake up? Or are you going to make me get up at 4am and do yoga? That might not be so bad - I couldn't start drinking around 6am on that plan...

Truly gorgeous. I've played it three times and shared it with everyone in the family.

Nicole said...

Sounds good, I dont see anything though! I would give anything to wake up to that instead of 1 cat, 1 puppy, 3 kids and some random lawn mower.

Ann's Rants said...

Sounds? very pretty. But YOUR VOICE. You should be doing voiceovers. Have your nephew hook you up. Seriously,.

Spencer L Casey said...

Well, that was just cool, Braja. Thank you. You should do that more often. I've thought about podcasting, but I simply don't think I could make the time for it.

Now THAT is the kind of "evil" I do to people....and me a poor old woman who was busy blaming her piece of crap Vista computer.

Cranked it up...BEAUTIFUL...and your voice, as beautiful as the birds singing.

Close your eyes and you are lost and found in paradise.

blognut said...

Awesome. I would totally love those sounds. Do you think you could get the birds to wait until around 9:15am rather than that whole 4:15am thing? 'Cause, really, I'd appreciate them so much more if they weren't waking me up at 'oh-my-friggin'-God-it's-early o'clock'.

Just sayin'.

Not The Rockefellers said...

The morning sounds of Mayapur are beautiful, and your voice is just lovely...

Peace - Rene

Kathleen said...

OK, spill . . . how did you do that?

The blank screen was perfecto! I even closed my eyes to make it even darker, silly me.

sigh . . .

Kavi said...

How blessed ! 4.15 AM is such an hour ! And many congratulations to you to be able to do all this at this hour...is indeed fantastic !!

The blank screen meant the attention was on the chirping. Increasingly, i seem to want to spend some time in Mayapur.

Mary Ellen said...

I should do this with the orioles that call back and forth in the mornings - save it up for the winter.

mo.stoneskin said...

You sound very awake for 4am, are you sure you didn't just shoot that in a dark room? Having said that, I LOVE the cinematography, some of the zoom shots were awesome.

Zip n Tizzy said...

Ahhh.
I can see the Baobab trees with their painted trunks. Makes me crave a limka or a gold spot!

Chairman Bill said...

Yup - the buggers wake me up every morning too! Pain, isn't it?

Pseudonymous High School Teacher said...

The birds were beautiful, but hearing your voice was even cooler. You have a lovely voice Braja.

Lady Fi said...

I do love birdsong in the morning - our birds start twittering from about 3 am in the summer because it's so light.

I'm in love with your voice! (Is it OK to confess this?)

Frau said...

Waking up to birds makes me feel like I'm on vacation some where tropical. Makes me want a drink with umbrella in it!!

Kat said...

I don't know what was more lovely, the birds or your voice.

Ugich Konitari said...

This could be required listening for some folks in this concrete jungle known as Mumbai. Luckily, where I live, its one of the more wooded areas in Mumbai, and I have often had the pleasure of listening to these wonderful sounds....

My late father used to get up around 4 am , and enjoy this as he did his meditations and yoga. Now both he and the birds are no more...

But I applaud your urgency in getting up amidst the chirping and recording it for us...Thank you!

lizspin said...

Oh yeah. . . it sounds like that at my house every morning too. . .

And I'm up at 4:15 every morning to enjoy it. . .

sheila said...

The sounds were beautiful. Melodic birdies. So calming. No sights, right?

Sandi McBride said...

ACKKK...nothing but black screen! I despair!

More. More. I want more....

And did I reallly hear strains of some musical instrument in the way far off? ...At 4:15 AM?????

These sounds make me desire to be a morning person!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing...and your voice is beautiful, too!! I agree, I hear a voiceover artist !!

Tessa said...

An early morning symphony - I will take that music and keep it with me all day long. Thank you, Braja.

Sassy Britches said...

Um, excuse me? Sexy voice! I closed my eyes and listened to the birdies, and about fell asleep because I felt so peaceful--rude awakening when BAM! it stopped. :)

only a movie said...

Love it. Thanks.

Debbie said...

You clever girl! Filming in the dark. Now that is how I need to break into vlogging.
And as I was listening to it with all the birds, the birds outside my window were singing too. A lovely stereo effect.

Suzy said...

Are those the birds outside the Myanpur Target?

Captain Dumbass said...

That's kinda what it sounds like here at that time. Except for the low flying float planes. And lack of exotic birds. And that idiot a block over starting up his mid-life crisis Harley Davidson. Ok, it doesn't sound like Myanpur at all.

Next time could you talk some more? Read a phone book. Whatever.

Joanna Jenkins said...

...And the Oscar goes to.....

Fabulous job. What peaceful, soothing sounds.

:-)

Kathy B! said...

How wonderful!! Such a beautiful way to wake up in the morning. I was serenaded by some raucous frog music this morning... If I could just coach them on being a little more consistent I think I'd enjoy them more.

Your voice is as beautiful as the birds' :)

Gran said...

Holy shit, you live in freakin' paradise.

Braja, you should do a relaxation tape; you would sell a zillion copies, between the birds and your amazing voice!

Awesome!

Carolyn...Online said...

Oh no! I'm blind! I couldn't see anything!

Amy@Bitchin'WivesClub said...

Wow! I love those birds. We have tons of songbirds singing away by 4:30am in Madison, WI, but NONE in Iowa. Not that I want to be up that early, but I love the sound if I am. :)

Thanks for sharing yet another beautiful facet of your life in India. xoxoxox

Amy@Bitchin'WivesClub said...

Oh, and HEY! The British Raj!!!!!!! WOOOOOT!!! WOOOOOT!!!!!!

WhisperingWriter said...

Okay, you have the best voice ever!

Roshni Mitra Chintalapati said...

What a racket those birds make!! :)

Seriously, those were so beautiful to listen to...reminds me of the tree next to my room with the mynahs and sparrows calling over each other! And, best of all, I couldn't hear any crows breaking the harmony in your video! Just about heard the temple bell in the background!

Your voice is very soothing and serene! Yes, please do more vlogs with more voice overs.

Roshni Mitra Chintalapati said...

Tailor bird, oriole and koel...did I get that right?!

Barry said...

I agree with the comments about your voice over. fascinating tape.

Elizabeth said...

So glad you are back in the commenting loop

I listened to this and think, "why am I always in a such a big hurry?" thanks for the reminder to slow the hell down. Oh and Phoebe is away and yours truly is seriously considering a yoga class today. Yup. Me.

Clive said...

Well, the birds wake us here about 4am every morning as well - only - they don't sound everything like that!! I guess Irish birds just aren't as musical!

Lovely to read through some past posts and see that you are doing well.

Take care
Clive and gang

Lady Fi said...

You should make a cd and sell it or at least a podcast. I want to download it to my ipod.

Fragrant Liar said...

That was so peaceful. I confess I listened to it probably ten times. You have a really soothing voice, Braja. And those birds are incredible. I would love waking up to that.

Cora said...

*le sigh* Soooooo relaxed now.....

Seriously, if I woke up to that, I know I'd get nothing done all day. Wouldn't that be blissful?!

Btw, your voice is lovely! :-)
