Don’t be fooled by the sleep of the dying...Under my eyelids I’m here, always here.
Closer to my next life than I am this
Still there are things that bind me, people too.
Yet fear of the swift call to end this day
does not visit me, for the soul rests brief,
A life is but a moment in the thoughts
of one whose eternal time goes unchecked.
I take nothing with me; yet leave the same,
Lest I am forced to return to claim it,
And those who hold it will not know my face;
For time has a selective memory.
Don’t be fooled by the sleep of the dying
Ancient burdens tire, but I do not rest.
The greatest journey lies ahead, unseen
Til at last I am still; time has claimed me…

That is beautiful writing! You are amazing.
This is a very calming piece. Well done.
Brava, Braja!
Brilliant!
Might you podcast this?
It would be lovely to hear it spoken in your lovely voice.
Oh, and the gorgeous photo -- such a divine duo.
The writing is, of course, bautiful. Really, I'd expect nothing less from you. :)
What strikes me more is the inner peace and resolute knowledge of one's person from which such writing would flow. Love it.
I love this post. Very beautifully written.
Braja,
I am in tears. . . that was beautiful! It brought me to the thoughts and memories of my parents. What a beautiful piece you created. Thank you for sharing it.
You know, you could recite that on one of your voice posts. I'm sure you would be able to give it the most beauty, since you are the one who wrote it.

"A life is but a moment in the thoughts
of one whose eternal time goes unchecked."
This is crazy and incredible when you (I) think about it. There's a song I forget the name of that goes "our times are in Your hands", it always stirs me, reminds me of the close shaves or illnesses that I or my family have survived.
Dear Braja
Thank you for sharing this lovely poem and photo.
So beautiful.

The life which vibrates under the casing of Body never dies it gets ready for another journey. The energy mixes up with another. The refined part joins the Paramatma, the residue takes a different course for getting refined in the next. And this continues. i believe this. Do You?
sleep of the dying.. this is the most powerful thing I have read...
we never sleep.....
Closer to my next life than this...
beautifuk lines..at times I feel excited about my next life, it seems to me that I will start on a level that I wanted to but could not reach in this life, that thought really excites me.
hauntingly beautiful...so much to do before the next life, maybe it will be less hectic. smiles. thanks for the honor as well. smiles.
"taking and leaving nothing" --what a beautiful sentiment, Braja. Thanks for sharing. <3
Calm, acceptance and freedom from guilt and regret are what come to mind when reading this beautifully written poem. It struck a particular chord with me. Thank you, dear Braja.

Thank you for your email ....
What a perfect poem of yours ..to take into my sleep.
The Dream,
of a rose,
The petals flutter down,
softly,
Resting in the arms
of Mother Earth,
enriching it,
for another day;
What pervades
as it looks behind,
is,
a perfumed chorus
of the remaining petals,
who have learnt,
that to flutter down,
Means you rise up
To learn your lessons,
Again
and again,
another life,
another day.
Not a Sleep of the Dying
But a quiet Praise
of a wonderful Life...
I'm envious of your depth! And I admire your inner peace.
Beautiful, my friend, just beautiful. . .
Yep. You did. You posted a poem. And quite a good poem that speaks to many. Very well done, my friend. Very well done. I hope that someday soon we can talk face to face about these ideas you so profoundly profess.
And yes, I agree with those who want to hear it. You should podcast this. And the photograph is a true treasure.

Absolutely beautiful. You never cease to amaze me! :) And the picture is absolutely priceless, too! :)
Wow. That leaves me speechless. And trust me, that *rarely* happens.
I am in awe. I so admire a poet. the best I can do is a dirty limerick. And not even all that dirty, just a little smudged...........coz I'm so pure of heart and all, ya know.
Braja,
This is a declaration of life everlasting, a voyage unseen. This is beautifully elegant and poignant.
Beautiful, of course.
And how wonderful to have such pure faith.
Wow!

You know, I'd hate you for being so talented if I didn't love you so damn much.
I'm glad I saved this treasure for my quiet time after the kids are in bed, so I could savor and re-read it. Beautiful.
